ACL & ligament repair, restoring knee stablility

by Mr. Ramistetty

What is an ACL rupture and repair?

An ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) tear is a common knee injury that typically occurs during activities involving sudden stops, changes in direction, or direct impact. This ligament is crucial for stabilising the knee joint and helping it to move smoothly. Symptoms of an ACL tear often include immediate swelling, significant pain, and a sense of instability, such as the knee “giving way” during movement.

Without proper treatment, an ACL tear can lead to ongoing knee instability, limiting your ability to comfortably participate in sports or everyday activities.

Mr Ramisetty, a leading experst in ACL and Ligament repair

Mr Ramisetty is a regionally leading ACL and Ligament repair surgeon, managing professional elite athletes to those who just wish to get their day-to-day lives back on track.

ACL repair surgery, often referred to as ACL reconstruction, involves replacing or reconstructing the damaged ligament to restore stability and function to the knee joint. During the procedure, Mr. Ramisetty uses either a graft taken from your own body (typically from the hamstring or a quad tendon) or donor tissue to create a new ligament. This graft is then secured within the knee joint, replicating the original function of the ACL.

Successful ACL surgery, combined with targeted physiotherapy, allows patients to return confidently to sports and activities, significantly reducing the risk of further knee instability or injury.

Other knee ligaments and injuries

Aside from ACL tears, the knee has several other key ligaments—such as the MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament), LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament), and PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament)—that can also suffer injury or tearing. These injuries usually result from twisting motions, direct impacts, or excessive force. Symptoms commonly include pain, swelling, reduced mobility, and a feeling of instability. Treatment ranges from conservative measures like rest and physiotherapy to surgical repair, depending on the severity and type of ligament damage.

Torn ACL

Very thankful and Grateful for Dr Ramisetty’s help. I am now able to go back to exercising and sports I could not do for a long time prior to surgery.

Knee stability surgery

Patalla Stability

I’ve had two knee surgeries in the past year (one left, one right) both my Mr Ramisetty. I have hypermobility which caused years of dislocations, clicking, and constant pain in my knees. I have been passed between doctors and physiotherapists since I was a young teenager, none of which were able to help with my issues. Mr Ramisetty was the first doctor who I felt really listened to my concerns and was genuinely interested in helping me. Within a couple of visits I finally had an explanation for why I was in so much pain and a plan of how he would try and correct it.
